Welcome to the Blackpool Music Service Website.
Welcome to our new Website. Hopefully it will fulfil several purposes including being a place to celebrate collective music making, provide information and clear guidance relating to events, rehearsals and risk assessments, offer supportive peripatetic and school documents and parental letters, provide enjoyable pictures of past events, indicate up and coming events and finally, will be interactive so pupils, staff and the general public can present their observations. Whilst we still have some categories to complete regular users will notice a rapid increase in the volume of information offered.
This site offers 3 levels of information, one for the general public and parents, one for staff and organisers (Registered) and one for peripatetic staff (Registered). For staff and organisers all you have to do is to register your interest and we will do the rest.
Blackpool Music Service
In 2002 Blackpool’s Children’s Services received funding to improve music teaching and musical provisions within the borough’s schools and communities.
As a consequence Blackpool Music Service was established in September 2002. Since then the numbers of instrumentalists and vocalists having weekly tuition has increased from 200 to 6,000. In addition, up to 25,000 Blackpool pupils per year are involved in their extensive, totally inclusive and nationally acclaimed Creative Music Making Programme. This has provided opportunities for numerous international professional musicians, bands and orchestras to inspire our children and perform live music on professional prestigious stages in various musical genres.
We now teach instruments in every Blackpool School and all our Primary Schools have experienced Wider Opportunities which offers free instrumental loan and up to one year’s free instrumental tuition. Curricular support is also available. There are free community ensemble rehearsals every weekday evening throughout the borough and as aspirations continue to increase these ensembles are rapidly increasing in quantity, quality and membership.
Meeting the musical artistic aspirations of its customers is the basis of its success. This specific focus has resulted in Blackpool Music Service receiving 5 national diplomas in the last 5 consecutive years and, national recognition for inspirational, and extensive support for all.
