During the last term, Blackpool Schools have been holding Pop Idol competitions in order to identify their best singer for Blackpool Music Services Primary & High School Pop Idol competitions. As a consequence, the grand finals are always well received, of a superb standard and supported by cheering families and friends. The Primary School Pop Idol was adjudicated by cabaret artist, Mrs Leanne Ball and Radio Waves breakfast presenter, Hayley Kay. Their observations included the vast amount of talent we have in Blackpool, and that this years standards were incredibly high. This was re-iterated by the High Schools adjudicators, Caroline Hargreaves, who is a professional singer and Ben Ruth, who is a professional promoter and performer himself.
The vast variety of musical genres performed made both nights emotional and exciting. The support from the audiences was the best ever, and a special vote of thanks must be given to Palatine High School who supported the rehearsals and evening performances.
